Sculptura #2 emerges from the Gare Maritime
From January 19 to March 14, 2024, the second edition of the Sculptura art festival will take place, the annual rendezvous in Brussels that highlights contemporary sculpture and the art of installation. This year, Sculptura #2 expands and integrates into public space. In addition to the exhibition at the Gare Maritime, a sculpture park on the Tour & Taxis site and exhibitions in various locations in the capital are added to the ambitious festival program.
Over eight weeks, the festival will revolve around the theme Art Moves, Art Connects, which emphasizes the discovery of sculptures from different artistic movements, from monumental works to smaller pieces. The goal of this gathering is to encourage the public to linger on sculpture and consciously look at what they more easily encounter in the city. Thus, several sculptures can be discovered in Brussels itself, including at the Pixel Museum, the MigrationMuseumMigration in Molenbeek, and The Dominican hotel.
Sculptura presents a European story, featuring 40 artists from all corners of Europe. Under the label of the Belgian Presidency of the Council of the European Union in the first half of 2024, the festival has been recognized as an official cultural activity. Moreover, a part of the event will highlight the collection of artworks from the European Parliament. These have been selected as part of the Art in Democracy program, and a separate space will be dedicated to them during Sculptura #2.
